Methamphetamine Testing


​Methamphetamine (Meth) is a member of the amphetamine group of synthetic drugs that have a stimulant effect on the central nervous system.  Exposure to the drug, even in very small amounts, can cause serious health risks. Meth labs have dramatically increased over the past several years because meth recipes are more readily available and meth is relatively easy and cheap to make from materials bought over the counter.

Why should you check for Meth?


​Methamphetamine manufacture and use can contaminate properties causing serious health risks to its inhabitants. Decontamination can be extremely costly, so it is important to be aware of any potential contamination prior to making a purchase. 

How is the test conducted?


​Home Inspect will send one of our trained samplers to conduct a meth screening test at the house, which is then sent away to an independent laboratory for analysis. The next working day, the laboratory will return the results to us so that we can provide you with a simple yes or no answer to your question, “Is my home Meth-Free?” If it’s “Yes” that’s all you need to know and you can rest easy.

What if a positive result is detected?


​If the initial test returns a positive contamination result further more detailed testing is recommended.

Lab Based Testing


​Our lab based testing method uses an independent IANZ accredited laboratory for analysis. This gives us accurate and quantitative results and offers the best insight into the property.
In comparison, the self testing kits have a considerable margin for error. They have low sensitivity and often miss significant levels of meth.
